- What is the DiscoverEU programme?
Discover EU is an initiative of the European Union which offers young Europeans the opportunity to travel across Europe by train. Funded by the European Parliament, the project aims at supporting 18-year-olds to become more independent, develop soft skills and embrace European values.
- How is Interrail involved in DiscoverEU
All DiscoverEU winners who choose flexible travel for their trip are awarded an Interrail Global Pass. The Pass is valid to travel for 7 days of their choice during a period of one month. With this Pass, DiscoverEU participants can travel by train between and within 33 European countries.
Eurail and its partner MCI were selected through a public tender process to deliver large-scale travel services within the framework of the DiscoverEU initiative.
- How can I take part in DiscoverEU?
- Will reservations also be free?
Reservations, if needed, will not be covered by DiscoverEU Interrail Passes. Because reservations are requested by the railway companies, and not Interrail, travellers need to make reservations separately.
You can reserve your seats via Interrail.eu by following the instructions sent in your order confirmation email.
Trains requiring compulsory reservations usually offer a higher level of speed, service and amenities compared to standard trains. You can also choose to reserve seats for trains where bookings are not compulsory. It's the best way to guarantee your seat - especially if you're travelling in a group or along popular routes. We recommend to make seat reservations in advance.
- Am I eligible to participate in DIscoverEU?
DiscoverEU travelers have to be 18 years old and are citizens of one of the member states of the European Union. Please visit the European Youth Portal to find out more about the rules of the DiscoverEU contest.
